CALL CODEY AND CORZINE TODAY!
Please attend the state's public hearing on the comprehensive bear management plan!
DEP Commissioner is expected to approve a bear hunt. Apparently, Fish & Game has done a "good" job of getting the media to print their side while ignoring the fact that garbage is still the main source of bear complaints.
Make your voices heard. Please call and keep calling:
Acting Governor Richard Codey
609-292-6000
Senator Jon Corzine
732-729-9820
(Note: Corzine is at the top of the Democratic Party in NJ. He has the power to make the bear hunt go away!)
POINTS:
♦ Let them know that you are opposed to the bear hunt and that your votes for Assembly and Governor depend on their actions.
♦ With roughly 2.2 million people living in bear country, a couple of hundred complaints is very low. Most people are living among bears in harmony.
♦ We have tools that can handle bear conflicts including, but not limited to proper garbage containment, bear proofing, public education and aversive conditioning.
♦ The population growth rate can be dramatically lowered if bears have no access to unnatural food sources such as garbage and bird feeders.
♦ Hunters, Division of Fish and Wildlife, and the Fish and Game Council are the only ones demanding a bear hunt.
♦ Bear hunts are recreational trophy hunts being sold as public safety. Don't buy it. The top issues affecting New Jersey are wages, property tax, health care, war, education, corruption, homeland security, economy, and the environment. The public also wants the bears protected.
♦ The Division of Fish and Wildlife should not be moving bears all over the state, especially in areas where bears do not usually frequent. They are doing this to induce fear and get support for a bear hunt.
SPEAK UP FOR BEARS: Please attend the state's public hearing on the comprehensive bear management plan!
